Plan Your Garden! with Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) | Tuesday, April 9, 11:00 am and 6:00 pm • Plan your garden with help from CCE’s Garden and Horticulture Coordinator, Shawn Turbidy!
Bring your questions and ideas to share to the Montour Falls Library and learn about chaos gardening, companion gardening, container gardens, raised beds, local resources, and more!

Buffalo Zoo Adventure Pass | Last day to use is April 30, 2024 • Beginning May 1, the Buffalo Zoo Adventure Passes will no longer be available for checkout from STLS member libraries.
Celebrate Spring by starting it at the zoo! This pass is good for “Free Youth Admission with Paid Adult” and covers a maximum of 2 adults with 2 youth. Youth are considered between ages 2-12, with ages 13 and up being considered as adults by the zoo. Children under 2 receive free admission!
This pass can be checked out from the Montour Falls Library for FREE for 7 days at a time.
Read-to-a-Dog Program | First Mondays, 2pm – 4:30pm • Is your child learning to read? Mr. Green Jeans is the perfect nonjudgmental audience!
Mr. Green Jeans is a trained and certified therapy dog. Join him to read at the library on the first Monday of each month.
There are many benefits to reading to a therapy dog, including reading ability improvement (specifically in fluency), increasing your child’s comfortability with reading in general, improving your child’s sentiments towards reading, and building self-confidence.
Fostering Access, Rights, and Equity (FARE) for Women Workers in NYS | Wednesday, March 27, 6:00 PM •
Join Stacey Salgado of the NYS Department of Labor at the Montour Falls Library for a presentation on employment rights and benefits especially important to women workers in New York State. This 1-hour presentation with Q&A includes useful information for anyone to know and share with others! In addition to general “Know Your Rights” information, we will highlight the current state of the Gender Wage Gap, Salary History Ban and Pay Equity laws, NYS Paid Family Leave, and new regulations about Pay Transparency and Rights for Nursing Mothers in the Workplace.
This program is free and is registration is not required.
Art Workshops with Cynthia: Pysanky (Ukrainian Egg Decorating) | Saturday, March 30, 11:30am •
Join us at the Montour Falls Library on Saturday, March 30 at 11:30 AM as we continue our 2024 Art Series: Art Workshops with Cynthia! This workshop we will focus on Pysanky, or Ukrainian Egg Decorating using dyes and wax.

Make Art Mondays | Mondays • The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes (The ARTS Council) invites youth between ages 5 and 12 to Make Art Mondays. In celebration of National Youth Art Month, The ARTS Council will publish arts and crafts projects created by local artists every Monday throughout March. These will be available for pick up at the Montour Falls Library.

Monthly Spotlight on Parenting with Paula | March 20, 3pm-5pm | April 13, 11am-1pm • Montour Falls Library and Cornell Cooperative Extension are partnering up again for Monthly Spotlight on Parenting with Paula!
Paula will provide the opportunity for parents to ask questions and explore resources used for parenting education, as well as fun activities for the kids!

Alzheimer’s Association and Montour Falls Library
Effective Communication Strategies | Thursday, April 4, 11-12pm • You will learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at each stage of the disease.
Understanding and Responding to Dementia-Related Behavior | Friday, June 21, 1-2pm • You will learn about some of the common triggers for behaviors associated with dementia, how to assess the person’s needs, and how to intervene effectively in this educational training program for non-professional caregivers.

It’s Library Advocacy Season! It’s #LibraryAdvocacy season! We’re calling on library supporters from across the #SouthernTier – we need your help! Each year, library patrons write postcards to our state legislators telling them how important libraries are to our communities. Share your #LibraryLove and ask legislators to #FundLibraries! Visit your local library to fill out a postcard, or complete a postcard online. We’ll deliver them to legislators before the final budget is passed. #LibrariesAreForEveryone

Storytime | Tuesday & Friday at 10am • Our Early Literacy Specialist, Alexandra, reads stories, sings songs, and offers an art activity twice per week.
