The Broken Key in the Land of Rivers and Lakes
October 31st, November 21st, December 5th from 12-2PM
This is a Dungeons & Dragons 5.5 Edition troupe style game. Pre-made characters will be available to select at the table, and no prior knowledge of the game is needed to play! This is a great way to try out Dungeons & Dragons if you’ve always wanted to check it out. After getting comfortable using pre-made characters, you may absolutely change things up or write your own character with the DM’s (Dungeon Master’s) help!
“Two generations ago, a great and powerful set of weapons, magic, and knowledge was sealed away in the Great Vault. A guardian was locked within to watch over it. The one Vault Key was broken into five parts and each part was hidden.
You are all young wanderers, adventurers who learned your trade each by traveling with a great mentor. In the last year, respected mentors, including yours, began to die. Some in battle, some in their beds, some even from assassins. At first it seemed normal, then a tragedy, then a pattern.
Each of your mentors left you with the same instructions as they died, “go to the Broken Tower of the Raven on the Frost Moon.” For some, it was gasped as they died, for others a coded message was found left for you because they anticipated their death, but however it happened, all of you got this one message with no explanation.
It is twilight on the night of the Frost Moon, and you have made it to the Tower of the Broken Raven. Your true story begins here.”
The Price of Arrogance
October 9th, October 23rd, November 20th, December 11th from 4-7PM
This is a 7th Sea Second Edition campaign style game. It will start with a Session Zero to help get people used to the system, to help with group character creation, and all the rest. You do not need to have any prior knowledge of the 7th Sea system or RPGs in order to participate.
“The King of Castille (Spain) has been showing off an amazing artifact brought back from the New World by his Explorers. Now, Louis, the King of Montaigne (France) cannot be outdone. He is determined to have an even Better Artifact to show to his courts! So, Louis has placed a huge bounty for adventurers, scholars, and treasure seekers to collect such an artifact for him.
Of course, you all are interested, but there is the problem of funds, transportation, supplies, etc. Until a sponsor with a ship approaches you with an offer, a plan, and a map.
The adventure in Montaigne (France) starts a chain of events that leads throughout Thea (Europe) and beyond. Secrets of the courts will lead into the streets, as you chase truth (and perhaps other things) throughout different social levels and regions of Thea.
Board ships and take to the waves, as your emerging Great Quest carries you ever onward. Delve into secret ruins, ancient artifacts, and emerging science to uncover the secrets of the past.
Some of what is known in the world may be half truths, as people sail the Six Seas and explore the lands of Thea and beyond. Your small band may seek the fabled Seventh Sea, and find hints about the Truth behind some of the deepest mysteries of the world.
This is a grand epic adventure story. Here you will find intrigue galore, role playing and dueling too. The mysteries and magic will be great, and I recommend this game if you want deep puzzles and strange mysteries. Imagine this as your hunt for the Fountain of Youth, El Dorado, or the Holy Grail. Toss in a bit of ‘Three Musketeers do the Journey to the Center of the Earth’ and you might have the right idea.
You might be rapier wielding duelists, archeologists and scholars, retired soldiers from the last war, noble blooded sorcerers, semi-reformed pirates, or all sorts of other adventurers in the Renaissance Era.”
Q&A
What does “troupe style” mean?
A troupe style game is a more relaxed version of an ongoing campaign. The story is connected throughout each game, but there is no pressure at all to attend every single one. Player characters can easily flow in and out of gameplay and the story will go on! You can think of these as inter-connected “one shots” where you can choose how frequently you’d like to participate.
What does “campaign” mean?
A campaign style game is a series of interconnected gaming sessions that tell a story over a length of time. These games typically have the same player characters at each session that play together on a regular basis. Regular attendance is expected, however, we understand that life happens and occasional absences (with prior notice when possible) will not jeopardize your spot at the table!
What is a DM (Dungeon Master)?
A DM (Dungeon Master) is the person in charge of running a TTRPG (table top role playing game). They are the person that plans and facilitates storylines, encounters, and role-play during gaming sessions. Players interact with the DM throughout the game to craft and play out the story they want to tell for their own characters.
